The world’s largest hotel chain, Best Western, plans to continue its regional expansion by opening two new hotels in Tanzania in early 2014.
The US based hotel chain will continue
to grow its presence in Africa by opening a four star, 90 room hotel in
Dar es Salaam as well as another hotel in Zanzibar.
The decision was prompted by the
growing regional market for business and leisure travel and the top line
figures that are already being delivered in its existing African
hotels.
Best Western opened its first hotel in
Tanzania in 2010, the Best Western Coral Beach Hotel, in the exclusive
Msasani Peninsula region.
The two new Tanzanian developments
reflect the hotel chain’s wider African expansion plan which has seen it
establish hotels in both Kenya and Ethiopia.
The hotel has said that it is also
holding conversations with developers throughout the region including in
Nairobi, Kampala, Tanzania and Ethiopia in regards to additional future
projects.
The tourism sector in Tanzania recently surpassed gold as the primary currency earner in Tanzania.
In 2013 the country welcomed 1.1 million tourists and by 2015 annual tourists could grow to 1.6 million.
