Low-cost African airline Fastjet (FJET) has announced a global partnership agreement with online travel comparison site Expedia (EPEU).
Fastjet
flights will now be available to travellers who book through the
Expedia website and its other operating brands such as online discount
travel site Hotwire and business travel agency Egencia that operates in
over 60 countries.
The AIM-listed airline operates routes across South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia and has plans to launch in Ghana and Angola.
Expedia senior vice president of global tour and transport Greg Schulze said travellers "are increasingly exploring Africa".
"We can now provide Fastjet flights amongst our broad selection of products and services," he said.
Ellis
Cain-Jones, head of commercial at Fastjet, said the partnership
"represents a giant leap in the implementation of our digital
distribution strategy" which will focus initially on increasing internet
bookings within Africa and then move into international markets.
"The
global reach of Expedia group's brands will make Fastjet accessible in a
vast number of international markets," said Cain-Jones.
