Tanzania: Serengeti National Park Relocates Wild Dogs

Serengeti National Park in Mara Region has initiated a project to relocate wild dogs now a rare spectacle in the park. Many of them have been killed by nearby villagers.
Until recent weeks Park officials had relocated three packs of the wild canines at the cost of Shs. 90 million.
This was revealed during last weekend by the Park Warden responsible for Tourism, Mr. Seth Mihayo while he was speaking to reporters who visited his office.
He said that some time back, the wild dogs were almost extinct in the park as they were killed by villagers or run over by vehicles.
He said the reason of relocating the wild dogs is to attract more tourists visiting the park.
Besides the wild dogs being relocated, the park is also envisaging relocating rhinos who are becoming extinct in the park
