ONCE again companies offering tourism services are making final touches for the next high season that kicks off next month.
Tarime is one of the areas where several hundreds of tourists entering the country via the Kenya/Tanzania Sirari border stop before heading to Serengeti National Park (SENAPA) to view a variety of beautiful fauna and flora.
Last season many tourists were seen using the shortcut road of Tarime-Mugumu, thanks to the Tanzania National Roads Agency(TANROADS) for ensuring that the road is passable throughout the year. Located about 40 km away from the famous park, Mugumu is the capital of Tanzanian wildlife-rich district of Serengeti.
A larger part of the northern fringes of SENAPA is bordering Tarime district making the two districts of Mara region potential for tourism investments.
Apart from beautiful wild animals, tourists using the short cut road of Tarime- Mugumu get an opportunity to view other attractions such us traditional grass thatched houses, Mara River North Mara Gold Mine. Mara regional leaders have of late been scratching their heads on how to benefit from the new tourist route (Tarime- Mugumu).
The number of tourists expected to pass via Tarime next season when visiting and coming from SENAPA stands to double this season, according to key players within tourism sector in the area. Bookings from different parts the world have started flocking in through the Tarime based Goldland Hotel and Tours Limited.
"Up to now, 2, 500 tourists have confirmed their bookings and we expect the number to increase," said Mr Joash Romeo, the head of tourism department at Goldland Hotels Tours Limited.
Majority of the expected visitors are from China, United States of America, UK and European countries, according to Mr Romeo. Goldland Hotels and Tours offers a wide range of hospitality and travel services in the area.
The company which is owned and run by a local investor, Mr Simon Mseti Wangwe operates a classic tourist hotel that accommodates foreign and local visitors.
Several hundreds of tourists make stops at the hotel before proceeding with their journey to SENAPA which attracts an average 350,000 and 400,000 visitors coming from different corners of the world every year.
The presence of the hotel has greatly helped to boost tourism in the fast growing town of Tarime which is located about 18 km away from the Tanzanian/ Kenyan border.
"We are ready to meet expectations of our visitors and keep them happy as we always do", said Ms Rhoda Kinanga. Mr Dennis Ndungulile, the Manager at Goldland Hotel said they have of late further improved their services a head of the coming tourism season.
"We have trained waiters capable of taking accurate orders from customers and offer express services. We are real prepared for next season," said Mr Ndungulile.
