TODAY IN LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK: WOODPECKERS

Woodpeckers,have you ever thought of why do these birds peck on a wood.Here are the reasons for doing so.They peck on wood inorder to get the insects hiding beneath the bark and use their sticky long tongue which is 3times its bill to pull the insect and eat.The woodpeckers also peck to establish territories and to attract mates.They can peck up to 20 times per second which is called drumming.PHOTO BY LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
