TTB to launch travel portal for foreign travellers

The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) will launch a tourism portal this month to help tourists from different countries in the world to choose the services they need from Tanzania, making travel bookings in visiting the country.
 
The TTB’s Acting Managing Director Devotha Mdachi told The Guardian on Friday that this will be one stop shop that would help tourists to buy tourism services from it.
 
“Right now we are in discussions with my staff to see who will be the chief guest at the occasion,” she said.
 
The new system will help TTB to track the number of tourists visiting Tanzania and the kind attractions they are interested in. The portal will be directly supervised by TTB, she said.
 
According to her, an online booking service is the way that will assist our tourists in abroad get tourism services more easily.
 
Through the portal Tanzania will become better known in the world because tour operators, travel agents, hotels and other service providers will get a chance to market  what the country has as well as showcase the potentials of the East African country.
 
The main goal is to promote the country’s tourist attractions so as to attract more visitors to Tanzania.
 
“This is a new system designed to have proper data on tourist arrivals from overseas as well as support all Tanzanian firms engaged in the sector raise their sales, profitability, increase foreign currency and raise government revenue.
 
TTB called on travel agents, tour operators including service providers to use this opportunity so as to benefit from what the country can offer to travellers.
 
Tourism is one of Tanzania’s fastest growing economic sectors, with 1,140,056 travellers in 2014, representing a 17.2 percent of the GDP.
Elaborating on the number of tourist arrivals in 2010 and 2013, she said in 2010, Tanzania received 782,699 tourists while in 2013, it received 1,095,884 visitors.
 
Tanzania, the largest country in East Africa, is focused on wildlife conservation and sustainable tourism, with approximately 28 percent of the land protected by the government, the largest percentage of any country in the world.
 
It boasts of 16 National Parks and 32 Game Reserves, 50 Game Controlled Areas, one special Conservation Area (the Ngorongoro) and three Marine Parks. It is home to the tallest mountain in Africa, the legendary Mt. Kilimanjaro.
 
The Serengeti, home to the "Great Animal Migration" that was named the New 7th Wonder of the World, the world acclaimed Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the "Eden of Africa" and the “8th Wonder of the World and Olduvai Gorge, the cradle of mankind.
 
Others include the Selous Game Reserve, the world’s largest game reserve, Ruaha National park, now the second largest National Park in Africa, the spice islands of Zanzibar and seven Unesco World Heritage Sites.
 
Most important for visitors, the Tanzanian people, with a rich history and diverse blend of cultures, are warm and friendly. 
Tanzania is an oasis of peace and political stability with a democratically elected and stable government.
