Tanzania: Serengeti Now Entices More Tourists

Arusha — The number of tourists visiting the Serengeti National Park has shot up due to increased tourist attractions in contrast to three years back.
Head of tourism department at the park Godson Kimaro said the increase is a result of increasing tourist attractions at the park and efforts in improving Tanzania's tourist attractions.
He said starting from July to December, 118,853 tourists from outside the country visited the park including 122,021 tourists from within the country.
Kimaro noted that for the 2014/15 period about 174405 foreign tourists visited the park including 198,515 internal tourists.
"For the whole year we had 174,405 foreign tourists as within six months over 118,853 tourists visited the park, hoping this year the number of tourists will increase more," he said.
He said the return of wild dogs at the park, the improvement of other tourist attractions like Moro Mountains with natural drawings and the long stay of wildebeests and zebras on top of the mountains have also been an added attraction.
