Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB)
The TTB Awards were presented at the Africa Travel Association’s
(ATA) 9th Annual ATA Presidential Forum that was held at the New York
University late the week by Honourable Minister of Natural Resources and
Tourism Lazaro Nyalandu.
Nyalandu was hosted by Tanzania Ambassador to the United States
Amb. Liberata Mulamula and accompanied by the Director General of
Tanzania National Parks Allan Kijazi.
TTB’s US representative and President of the Bradford Group Karen
Hoffman, named the honoured firms as CNBC’s Secret Lives of the Super
Rich, Abercrombie and Kent and the Turkish Airlines.
She said CNBC’s Secret Lives of the Super Rich received the
prestigious award for their season premiere episode that featured the
Serengeti National Park as part of the Abercrombie and Kent Private Jet
tour.
The show’s Executive Producer Ray Parisi and Producer Jessica Joseph accepted the award on behalf of their team.
Abercrombie and Kent received the award in recognition for their
tremendous support in hosting major broadcast projects featuring
Tanzania which has in turn increased tourists visits to the country from
across the world.
Abercrombie and Kent Sales Director Norma Spadola received the award on behalf of the renowned travel firm.
On their part, Turkish Airlines were awarded in recognition of
their support in hosting Tanzania’s first all United States Tour
Operator Assocciation (USTOA) member tour operators educational trip.
The airline’s Regional Marketing Manager Alp Ozaman received the award
on their behalf.
The award ceremony marked its 14th year since it was started back
in 2000 by TTB. The awards are designed to recognise and show
appreciation to travel professionals who have positively affected
Tanzania’s tourism.
At the 9th Annual ATA Presidential and Ministers Open Forum on
Africa Tourism, sponsored by TTB and the Tanzania National Parks
(Tanapa), minister Nyalandu and other top sector representatives held
discussions on various issues related to the sector’s growth including
its critical role in driving socio-economic growth and development.
The forum was organised by ATA on the occasion of the United
Nations General Assembly and co-hosted by the New York University-Africa
House.
TTB selected the annual event to present the awards as a show of
support for ATA’s consistent efforts to promote the continent’s tourism.
Tourism leaders from across Africa and over two hundred people,
including travel and tourism professionals, airline and hotel
representatives, diplomatic representatives, African Diaspora leaders,
media, faculty, and students were in attendance.
