6 October is World Habitat Day, a day to reflect on the state of our towns and cities, on the basic right of all to adequate shelter, and as a reminder that we all have the power and the responsibility to shape the future of our urban areas.

Tourism currently constitutes a central component in the economy, social life and the geography of many of the worlds' cities. The upcoming Third Global Summit on City Tourism (Barcelona, Spain, 9-10 December 2014) aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the recent developments in city tourism in order to facilitate tourism's contribution to smart, sustainable and inclusive cities.
