Muscat: Dubai-based flydubai has announced flights to Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Flights to the East African country commenced on October 16 expanding the airline's network in Africa to 12 destinations. The airline operates daily flights from Muscat to Dar es Salaam and twice a week to Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro.
With the addition of these three new destinations in Tanzania, flydubai has doubled the network in North and East Africa this year.
It recently launched flights to Bujumbura in Burundi, Entebbe in Uganda and Kigali in Rwanda and operates 33 flights a week from Muscat to Dubai, connecting Dubai to 88 destinations.
Tanzania is a regional hub for tourism in East Africa and in 2013 the country welcomed over one million tourists. According to the Tanzania Tourism Board (TTB), this figure looks set to double with two million tourists forecast by 2017.
