The Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Hon. L. Nyalandu held
talks with representatives from WWF with the focus being on enhancing
conservation of forests in the country through the Debt for Nature Swap
Initiative that will be supported between the Russian Federation and the
Republic of Tanzania.
Hon. Nyalandu highlighted on the various challenges that the forestry sector is facing and recommended that more efforts should be made to ensure the sustainability of the forests.
On his side, Mr Julio Tressera from WWF said the sole objective of the initiative is nature conservation and therefore assured the minister that once implemented it will bring a big boost to the conservation of forests in the country.
