INVESTING in high quality transport facilities is a fundamental
measure in promotion of tourism in central and western regions of the
country, particularly the Igombe Stream National Park.
There are valuable tourist sites along the central line down to the
west that could attract tourists to generate more government revenue and
employment, said Mr Rahul Khanna, Jolly Enterprises Limited Chief
Operating Officer in Dar es Salaam.
"The private sector needs to go an extra mile by investing in
transport facilities of international standards to capture more tourists
for the benefit of the country," he said.
He said at the handing over event of four new brand buses worth
nearly 1bn/- to Adventure Connection that own bus fleets plying between
Dar es Salaam to Kigoma for both local passengers and tourists.
"There has been little interest for most investors in transport
facilities for both passengers and tourists in the central and western
line due to poor infrastructures," he said.
However, as the government has continually investing in transport
infrastructures, more investors appetite to provide transport facilities
in the regions is increasing, the move that promotes tourism and other
economic activities to benefit the local people.
He said Jolly Enterprises Limited, which is an arm of Quality Group
will continue to supply high quality buses that could suit both local
passengers and tourists.
The Adventure Connection Director, Mr Hamad Halfan, said there is
increased number of tourists using passenger buses to Kigoma and other
western regions, thus creating the need for using high quality transport
facilities.
