Newcomer, Thorleifur Thor Jonsson, Trade Delegations Manager from Promote Iceland, comments, “The Russian market is important for Iceland because we are catering for people that are traveling out of the main season. By participating in MITT 2014, we are hoping to get the image of Iceland as an exciting adventure destination with the highest service level, into the minds of Russian travellers.”
Many companies will be returning to MITT, include the tour operators Mouzenidis and Biblio Globus, who have more than doubled their exhibition stands.
Anna Pugina from Mouzenidis comments, "The Russia’s tourism market is vitally important for Mouzenidis as 65% of our tourists come from Russia. Exhibiting at MITT is a unique chance to meet new and existing partners, to share promotional material and to get an insight into the industry trends. The presentation that we organise each year collects more than 600 people, giving us the perfect opportunity to share our news and to present our product and services."
MITT 2014 will feature a diverse business programme which will enable exhibitors, trade visitors and journalists  to get first-hand information on visa developments and issues facing Russia’s outbound tourism market. The key event within MITT 2014 is the Tourism Business Summit, which will take place on the 20th of March 2014, the second day of the event.
Maria Badakh, Head of Sales, ITE Group plc comments “Russia’s rapid economic growth in recent years has catapulted the country’s tourism spending with Russia now the 5th in the world for international tourism expenditure. As Russia’s outbound tourism continues to thrive (47 million Russians travelled abroad in 2012), as does the appetite for new and more exotic destinations. It is also the market with double digit growth, while some traditional outbound markets like the UK and Germany only grew by a few percent this year. We look forward to welcoming returning exhibitors and a few new destinations at MITT 2014, and wish them a successful show.”
