Fastjet soaring

The AIM-quoted outfit noted that its operations in Tanzania carried a total of 31,241 passengers, with the average yield per passenger standing at $88, a significant improvement on the $46 reported in 2013. Total revenues for the month stood at $2.75m.
Meanwhile its 540 business, which carries passengers to the oil-rich south west African nation of Angola was said to have seen a 'significant fall' in numbers. However its route from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania to Lusaka in Zambia was described as being 'particularly popular with the Zambian people' with fastjet adding that it expects to see a considerable expansion in this route.

Chief executive Ed Winter remarked that the company was 'very satisfied with our January performance' adding that the company had succeeded by 'avoiding deep discounts while focussing on maintaining a strong yield'.
