Fastjet to unveil third weekly Dar flight

FASTJET, Africa’s low cost airline, will launch a third weekly flight from Dar es Salaam to Lusaka, starting from April 15, 2014 due to an increased demand from Zambian passengers.
This marked Lusaka as another low cost pan-African airline’s international destination after Johannesburg in South Africa.
Fastjet chief executive officer Ed Winter was confident that the Dar-es- Salaam route would grow substantially.

According to a statement posted on their website, Fastjet said due to popular demand, the airline was launching a third weekly flight on the new Dar-es- Salaam to Lusaka route starting from April 15, 2014.
“We will be flying on a Tuesday in addition to our weekly Thursday and Saturday flights, bringing further affordable fares and international standards of air travel to Tanzania and Zambia,” the statement said.
Fastjet flies twice a week on Thursday and Saturday from Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport and Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport.
“Thanks to all our passengers for their support so far and keep watching in the future as we plan to expand capacity further on this route,” the statement said.
All of its flights out of Lusaka are fully booked and Mr Winter was confident that this route would grow substantially.
He was satisfied with the current airline’s performance for January saying that, the post-Christmas period was traditionally on the least month of the year but Fastjet had avoided deep discounts and has successfully focused on maintaining a strong yield.
