The final program has now been released for the upcoming Hotel
Summit East Africa 2014, which will run alongside the Kenya Hospitality
Trade Fair 2014, both taking place at the Kenyatta International
Convention Centre in the heart of Nairobi.
The trade fair will be open from May 14 to 16, while the hotel
symposium will launch in the afternoon of the 15th with registration and
a get-to-know-each-other session before a full day’s program of
speakers and presentations that will keep delegates busy on May 16.
The trade fair, in the main exhibition hall of the KICC, is
reportedly sold out as suppliers from Kenya, the wider region, and
beyond are queuing up to impress buyers from the region’s hospitality
sector who are looking for the latest gadgets and technology especially
when it comes to cost savings in the kitchen and back-of-house
operations.
In spite of Kenya’s present downturn, the markets in Tanzania,
Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi have been cautiously expanding with more
hotels in the pipeline and due to open later this year.
Both events are supported by the East African Chamber of Commerce and
the Kenya Tourism Board and are considered the largest such local event
in Eastern and Central Africa, providing a focal point for hotel
managers and hotel owners to get acquainted with the latest technologies
and trends. Novel this year is the “Chef’s Corner” with Kenya’s
celebrity chef, Ali, who will do demonstrations and provide for tasting
sessions throughout the three-day trade show.
