Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Mr Lazaro Nyalandu issued the advice in Dar es Salaam on Saturday night after launching a special website for the Swahili International Tourism Expo (SITE) to be held later in October.
"Most Tanzanians are bound by traditions, they only plan to visit their families in the villages during holidays and never plan to have a tour in their own tourist attractions," said Mr Nyalandu.
Mr Nyalandu said that to avoid that, it is better to have long term plans on what to do during holidays and also it is paramount to save money to enable families to visit as many attractions as possible.
The minister stressed that in the ministry they have special programmes to visit students and encourage them to visit various heritage sites to gain knowledge and experience that will help their future as well as would become great ambassadors for domestic tourism.
