MORE than 90 tourism and travel related firms from Tanzania participated in the just ended Germany’s World’s Leading Travel Trade Show (ITB) all unanimously painting the country green.
Tanzania showcased, Mount Kilimanjaro, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Zanzibar Islands.
The TTB Public Relations Manager, Mr Geoffrey Erneo Tengeneza stated in a special release that 59 firms showcased the country’s spectacular tourism attractions as well as their services under the Tanzania Tourist Board pavilion, 14 other companies participated through the Zanzibar Tourism Investment (ZATI), with 10 more taking part under African Travel and Tourism Association (ATTA).
Tanzania made proper use of ITB 2016 in using the event as a unique platform for marketing its various in-country destinations and her tourist attractions. Participants from Tanzania were also able to make good business deals apart from many visitors flocking at the Tanzania stand throughout the show.
And according to the Managing Director of Tanzania Tourist Board Ms Devota Mdachi; “We are pleased that we fully utilised some of the events at ITB such as the East African Community day that we hosted at our stand, media interviews by International television and radio stations, and other professional meetings that ran concurrently with the show to aggressively market our tourism attractions,” she stated.
On his part the Marketing Manager Mr Geofrey Meena noted that ‘Team Tanzania,’ comprised of 56 companies from the private sector including Tour and Travel operators, and Accommodation facilities.
Three (3) institutions from the public sector took part in ITB 2016, these were: Tanzania Tourist Board, Tanzania National Parks and the Tanzania embassy in Germany.
More than 187 countries and 10,000 companies participated in the ITB 2016 which also attracted nearly 200,000 visitors from all over the world. Tanzania attracts at least 1.2 million visitors into its top destinations annually
