East Africa’s premier tourism fair set for June this year

TANZANIA (eTN) - East Africa’s leading travel and tourism exhibition, the Karibu Travel and Tourism Fair (KTTF), will be taking place in Tanzania’s northern tourist city early in June this year.
According to organizers of this premier tourism fair, the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO), the exhibition will be taking place from June 6th to 8th this year in Tanzania’s northern tourist city of Arusha.
The exhibition is expected to attract participants from Asia, Europe, and North America, as well as from Tanzania and other African countries including Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

More than 10,000 visitors from various countries are expected to visit the exhibition grounds, just outside the Arusha city center.
The Karibu Fair stands the largest exposition of its kind in East and Central Africa, the second largest travel industry event in Africa behind the INDABA event in South Africa.
Precision Air, Tanzania’s leading airline, will be the official air carrier and sponsor of the event, organizers told eTN.
Targeting to promote East Africa as a single tourist destination and to raise the region’s profile, the Karibu Fair has attracted several travel and tourism companies from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, apart from Tanzania.
Seychelles is among African countries invited to participate the fair. Standing as a modal example of Africa’s fastest growing destination, Seychelles has been participating the Karibu Fair in recent years.
The Indian Ocean Island had in recent years, attracted high-class tourists across the world to visit its rich attractions, made up of ocean resources.
Zanzibar is the other Island destination in the Indian Ocean to participate the Karibu Fair, according to event organizers.
Karibu Fair has, in the past, been responsible for generating direct spending in the local economy, but has also helped to create both direct and indirect employment opportunities through the development of small and medium travel trade enterprises.
The event provides an ideal opportunity for overseas buyers and travel journalists to meet the market leaders in the East African tourism industry and learn about emerging trends and developments.
The Karibu Travel and Tourism Fair is organized by Tanzania Association of Tour Operators and has since grown into Africa's second biggest tourism event of the years. This event has been conducive to informal networking and getting to know each other better among all stakeholders on Tourism industry.
The overriding goal of Karibu Travel and Tourism Fair is as well, targeting, attracting and matching the needs of buyers and suppliers, aimed at bringing the whole of East Africa in one place, at one time and allowing overseas tour agents to meet and network with members of the East African tourism industry.
Other goals are targeting to bring new destinations, and products to the attention of overseas tour agents; creating a single venue where the overseas tour agent can form new deals and partnerships in a short period of time and allowing overseas tour agents to visit the national parks and properties.
Generating direct spending on local hotels, restaurants and transport, creating employment by assisting development of small and medium enterprises and raising East African tourism profile, are the other, notable goals of the Karibu Fair.
About 120 tourist and travel-related companies and suppliers participated last year’s edition of Karibu Fair.
